{% hint style="danger" %}
Check [this article](https://insights.gitbook.io/ecomm-doc/faqs/things-you-should-know-about-theme-updating) before updating Ecomm
{% endhint %}

There are 2 ways to update Ecomm:

* Update Automatically (Recommended): Using **Insight Core** plugin
* Update Manually: Upload to **Admin dashboard** or **FTP**

### **#1 Update automatically**

* Navigate to **Insight Core** >> **Welcome**
* Fill in your **Purchase code** and submit it. Then, you will be informed when there is an available update. Click the button **Update Now** then the theme will be automatically updated.

### **#2 Update manually**

* Download the theme package from ThemeForest and get the file ***ecomm-latest-version.zip***
* Upload file:
  * If you use FTP, you just have to Log in to FTP, then Update file ***ecomm-latest-version.zip*** into folder **var/www/htdocs/wp-content/themes**
  * If you use the Admin dashboard
    * You need to deactivate the current Ecomm theme in **Appearance** > **Themes** by simply ***activating a different theme***. Once you activate a different theme, delete the old Ecomm theme
    * Then simply upload and activate the ***ecomm-latest-version.zip*** file in the **Appearance** > **Themes** section like you've done when[ installing theme.](https://insights.gitbook.io/ecomm-doc/guides/how-to-install-demo)
